(Guest) Idd's BlogOk so it's twenty past tomorrow and I'm here writing a blog for the special birthday edition of Less Than 3. Well the comic took a little while to draw, just in order to get the style right - You'd be surprised just how complex a style it really is. This idea is based upon a few ideas taken from earlier comics - like the love of brownies, and the outside knowledge I have of Faith is what inspired Boromir's entrance into the comic... Really this strip was an awful lot of fun to do, a good opportunity to have a real think about the art of simplicity when it comes to composition, as there isn't a whole lot going on in each panel to convey meaning or emotion with. Loved doing this strip. Love Less Than 3. Love Boromir. And who doesn't really??? - Idd |
Peter's Blog[re: Idd's blog] I am not allowed to love Boromir; any comments of appreciation might be met with "he's mine!" type replies, and as I'm already under a threat of being hit for the 'Elvish song' joke [see comic #28], I feel I should play it safe for a while. Idd has judged this strip extremely well - it captures the style of Faith's drawings, as well as Faith's interests. The minimal detail used in the strip regularly is part of the appeal, I think - my first real interaction with LT3 was asking Faith to do an image of me in the strip style (I refer to it as being LT3'd, and am still pleased with the result). While the style of the strip has changed occasionally, and the old strips seem almost basic by comparison, there is no getting away from the fact that they all express the characters in their own ways. This isn't something I would find easy, and admire Idd for recreating it so well herself. - Peter (You can find the latest project by the awesomely, intimidatingly talented Idd here - Button Press) |
